For about 10 years now, there is one skincare brand that I have used. That has worked. And that I have stuck with. Let’s face it, we all love a brand that we can trust and use for years and years. The brand that I am talking about is, Liz Earle. My trusted skincare BFF, she just doesn’t know it yet. And, well if you don’t use Liz Earle products and never have before, then you are seriously missing out on a skincare BFF for life.
Just in case you don’t know, Liz Earle products are made with 100% naturally active ingredients. All Liz Earle products are 100% Cruelty Free and you’ll spot this by the little bunny logo on the back of all their products. All Liz Earle products do not use preservatives or animal ingredients, however they do use animal-friendly beeswax, Manuka honey as well as plant oils and extracts which makes all products suitable for vegetarians*
When I was 15, I had the worst skin ever. And that has followed me into my mid-twenties. Having acne shouldn’t be embarrassing, but for me it was. And I resulted into using a lot of make-up that was probably filled with many naughty ingredients rather than tackling the source of the problem, my skin! It was my mom who used Liz Earle products herself and having seen how bad my skin was, she introduced me to this magical lady and her wonderful products (okay, she bought them for me. Thanks mom!) I won’t waffle on about my bad skin since being a teen, but I will say that the following skincare regime I have followed for nearly over 10 years and I wouldn’t change it for the world, EVER.
Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish has to be my ultimate go-to beauty product. No matter how many other cleansers I try, I always return to this product. Not only is this product packed with naturally active ingredients and mineral oils but it’s also so gentle on your skin that if you have sensitive skin like me then you shouldn’t get irritated. The texture is a thick cream that is powerful yet gentle on your skin. I use this cleanser twice daily, with Liz Earle’s muslin cloths, which are a soft cotton so they are delicate on your skin. This cleanser removes all my make-up, even waterproof mascara and leaves my skin feeling clean and radiant. The starter kit for Liz Earle’s C&P is £15.50 for a 100ml product which comes with 2 x muslin cloths to use with your product.
Liz Earle’s Gentle Exfoliator is exactly what it says on the tin. A gentle exfoliator. This exfoliator works best if you have congested and/or dry skin. The texture is similar to the Cleanse and Polish but with jojoba beads, which gentle buff the skin to remove dead skin cells whilst keeping your skin soft and moisturised. Liz Earle say that this product isn’t suitable for sensitive skin, however I have sensitive red skin and I get on this product really well. I only need to use this product around two-three times weekly or as and when I need it. I then simply wipe away any excess product with the muslin cloths.
This deep cleansing mask is made from only naturally active ingredients including green clay, manuka honey, propolis and rose-scented geranium. I only need to use this mask about once a week as a treat to my skin but if I notice that my skin has a lot more blemishes or when I feel a little groggy then I occasionally use this a couple of times a week, ya’no just to make myself feel better. Liz Earle say that this mask will help draw out impurities and leave your skin balanced and calm, and that this mask is not suitable for sensitive skin. However, like the exfoliator, I have never had a problem using this mask. I apply the mask with a mask brush in a thick layer, when the mask goes hard it’s ready to wash off. I use the facial sponges that you get within the Deep Cleansing Face Mask starter kit and afterwards my skin is left feeling refreshed, brighter and a lot cleaner.
It’s surprising how many skincare regimes I see that don’t include a toner. To be honest, I never used to use them either until I realised what they do and how they can help improve your skin. Long story short is that when using a cleanser with hot water, this opens your pores and cleans inside of them. But how do you close them you ask? Well, with a toner of course! Toner is usually used after using a cleanser (and if using exfoliator and a mask, this is used after this too) and will not only refresh, sooth and brighten your skin but it also adds a layer of moisture and closes your pores to stop any dirt getting back in. So, when you think about it, a toner is an essential to keeping your skin looking fresh and keeping it clean. This toner comes in a bottle, a spritz and also a mini spritz that can be used all over your face and body to revitalize and cool you down.
One thing that I would tell my 13 year old self now is moisturise daily! Every morning, after my morning mini-cleanse and tone, I apply Liz Earle Moisturiser across my face and neck and every night after I have removed my make-up and cleansed my face. I use the moisturiser for Dry/Sensitive Skin but this also comes in Combination/Normal and a Light version. If you have mature or extremely dry skin, don’t worry Liz Earle has you covered as they offer a SuperSkin moisturiser in their collection that specialises in moisturiser for your skin type. Again, like other Liz Earle products, the moisturiser is packed full of naturally active ingredients including vitamin E, borage and avocado oils to moisturise and smooth your skin. I have used both the light moisturiser and the original moisturiser for dry/sensitive skin and I personally prefer the original as this is a thicker cream and I find that this hydrates my skin a lot more.
When my skin is feeling and looking a little under the weather, after my above routine and before I go to bed I apply the Liz Earle SuperSkin Concentrate all over my face and neck, and then apply my moisturiser afterwards. Liz Earle SuperSkin concentrate is suitable for all skin types and is an intense aromatic blend of naturally active ingredients including argan, rosehip oils, neroli, lavender and chamomile essential oils plus vitamin E. Superskin concentrate is used as a rebalancing night-time treatment and is used to soften dry or mature skin or to balance combination or oily skin. When applying this on my skin, my skin is instantly hydrated whilst feeling so much more relaxed from the essential oils. In the morning, my skin feels refreshed and rebalanced with a beautiful soft glow.
