Nowadays, more and more couples are choosing to get married abroad, rather than in the UK. I mean, why wouldn't you? With such beautiful locations, picture-esque venues and much more to show for your money, it seems like the perfect option. But planning your wedding is the most stressful and nerve wracking job you'll have, so it's important that you consider all of your options and pick the right location for you.

We paid for our wedding ourselves, so for us, getting married abroad was a no-brainer as we struggled to find a venue that we loved that was within our budget and without the worry about what the weather would be like on the day. At first, we didn't actually think about getting married abroad, it was all a little spontaneous at the start, as we had just decided to start looking at venues while we were visiting family in Javea, a small town at the south of Spain.

After looking at the traditional Spanish wedding venues (usually churches or cathedrals where you're married by a Priest), we realised this wasn't for us. So we decided to visit more modern venues including villas, restaurants and hotels. After endless disappointing appointments, we popped into a beautiful little restaurant/events venue, Salones Carrasco which is located in the heart of Javea.

Salones Carrasco is a family run business, mainly managed by Rosanna and her brothers. When we were shown around, it was so lovely to see the passion they have for their family business, and it was clear they loved what they do. The service we received was so much more personal and the venue was beautiful, we just knew that this was the place that we wanted to get married.

After we set our date and paid our deposit, it was back to England we went, to start scrap booking and planning the fine details of our wedding. Little to my expectations, I had so much support from Rosanna as she kept me up to date with any plans, ideas, bookings and tastings - it was like having our own wedding planner. She was with us every step of the way, helped translate between Spanish and English, sent over ideas and samples to help with the planning, and also organised lots of the little details on the day.

One of the hardest decisions we had to make was outfits, for the men in the wedding party it was easy. We had decided to go with a cotton suit from Next for the grooms men, which would be cool enough for a sunny October day, but still warm enough for the evening breeze. My husband wanted something a little more fancy, so he picked up a tailored linen-cotton mix suit from Suit Supply in London (if you are ever looking for a suit, I can't recommend them enough - the quality is incredible and the service that you receive in store is second to none).

Sadly, I had a lot of problems with my bridal gown which was ruined by someone who I had put my trust in, but I tried not to let it ruin the day - after all, I was in another country with a faulty, damaged wedding dress. I was that person who couldn't decide what style dress I wanted, even after trying on several dresses in bridal shops, but, there were parts of each dress that I loved.

So my mum had introduced me to her friend's son, who was starting his own business designing couture, bespoke dresses. We had started the design about 15 months before our wedding day, but he just didn't seem to care when it came to actually creating my dress (after I'd already paid in full, in advance) as my dress was unfinished, no alterations were done and it was faulty.

My dress should have been finished a few months before our big day, but he didn't allow me to collect it until a few days before we flew to Spain in October; and at that point, it was too late. I'm forever grateful to my mum who spent so much time trying to make my dress wearable.

Thankfully, the problems aren't too noticeable on photos, but to me, it ruined my day and I didn't feel special or like a bride at all. So if you are getting married abroad, just make sure you have your dress ready (and possibly collected) well in advance, and make sure it's perfect.

My shoes on the other hand were out of this world. Being a huggeeeeee Sex and The City fan, I'd always dreamt of having those iconic heels to walk down the aisle in. Yes, I mean those beautiful blue Manolo Blanik Hangisi's that Mr Big gave to Carrie Bradshaw instead of an engagement ring. The royal blue shade just didn't suit our wedding theme, but I managed to find a pair in navy in the USA. The colours available in the UK vary, but they do have a variety of shades here.

I can honestly say, hand on heart, they are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn in my life. The heels aren't as high as my Louboutins, as I decided to have a more appropriate height so I could wear them all day, without feeling like my feet are dying. The inner soles honestly felt like they had memory foam underneath, what a delight. The only thing you need to take into consideration is that they're made from satin, so the slightest little drop of water, or accidental spilled drink could stain them, but I had them professionally cleaned when I returned to the UK, so they look good as new again.

One thing we found when planning our wedding abroad, is that wedding cars aren't as nice as in the UK. I love a classic vintage car such as a Rolls Royce, but it wasn't something we could arrange in Spain. There were a lot of classics and super sport cars, but you also have to consider the insurance element - even when hiring someone to drive.

Instead, not only did my pops walk me down the aisle, but he also drove us from his brother's villa (where we were staying) to the venue, in his Porsche 911 GTS. It made it so much more special that my dad was driving me to my wedding before giving me away, even more so in a luxury car. He even went round to help me out of the car, what a true gentleman!

For the guests, one of the most important thing for us was making sure they didn't have to travel between locations or pay for anything from the moment they arrived at our venue (after all, most of our guests had travelled from the UK). So after the ceremony in the mid-afternoon, we arranged cocktails and tapas appetisers, shortly followed by a selection of our favourite canapes, before we enjoyed a 5 course sit down meal in the evening, with unlimited wine and fizz for the table.

Afterwards, it was time for the party, and there were a selection of cakes and a savoury cheese board to keep our guests filled up all night. And of course, there was a lot (and I mean lots) of alcohol. We had arranged a free bar for our guests to be able to enjoy themselves from the moment we were seated for food until the early hours of the morning, when the wedding celebration was over.

In Spain, and most European countries in fact, it's normal to arrange a free bar for your guests. You'll usually pay a set fee of around €400 per hour. But a European open bar is so much better than anything I've seen in the UK, as they just put all the alcohol behind a bar, have someone there to help; but you can basically serve yourself as much alcohol as you want in whatever measure you want. And when that runs out, they keep replacing it until either that's gone, or until nobody can psychically drink anymore. But be careful, some people, like my husband, thought that was a challenge.

Not only do you get lovely sunshine, and get a lot more for your money but the service you get from vendors is second to none. It's also an excuse not to invite people for the sake of it, it's a holiday for your guests, and it's also a mini honeymoon for yourself and your partner.

Overall, despite there being a few hiccups on the run up and on the day of my wedding, if we were to do it all again, we would definitely still choose to get married abroad.

Planning a wedding is hard. Possibly one of the most stressful, time consuming and mind boggling things ever. It’s even worse planning a wedding abroad, especially on your own - as let’s face it, Grooms are useless - but as I have a personality like Monica Gellar I absolutely loved the experience (ish) which is why I wanted to share with you the tricks of the trade and a few tips which I hope will help planning a wedding abroad (or even in the UK).

Planning a wedding abroad is rapidly becoming the ‘in thing’ with newlyweds nowadays, not only are you more likely (okay more or less guaranteed) to have nicer weather but the overall wedding costs are a lot cheaper. Well for the Bride and Groom anyway. Win! Usually, when choosing to get married abroad you would have already had a location in mind. This maybe your favourite holiday destination, somewhere that is connected to you personally or you may have family and friends there. Some of the favourite destinations (or the ones that I see pop up the most) are Spain, Italy, Santorini, Cyprus or the French Provence. Wherever you decide , the most important thing is make sure it’s exactly how you want it and you do your research!

This post is well overdue as I should have posted this a few weeks ago but as you probably know I have been a little quiet as I have been rather busy.

A month ago, on my travels to Spain I was shopping in the Ondara Shopping Centre near Javea (which is amazing by the way, they have a Zara Home! - I know) and I was introduced to KIKO Make-Up. I had previously heard wonderful things about this Italian cosmetics brand but they only have a few stores in the UK all of which happen to be absolutely no-where near where I live, and as I am a little funny when it comes to trying new make-up I didn't want to buy online incase I didn't get what I wanted, so sadly for me I never got to try anything in person.

Needless to say I was so impressed as the store and the cosmetic range is absolutely to die for! Everything is so reasonably priced and the pigmentation of the products is amazing. I couldn't believe my little green eyes when I seen these KIKO Kiss Balms - look familiar? I thought so too!

They are the BEST dupe I have ever seen and I think I actually prefer these (in case you are wondering they are an amazing dupe of BeneTINT lip balms by Benefit Cosmetics)!

Normally I find lip balms quite sticky so I get put off using them and will usually end up using a moisturising lipstick but in store I managed to try these before purchasing and oh wow I was impressed, the texture is really creamy but not glossy and the subtle tint is just enough to give you a little pop colour.

When using these lip balms my lips were instantly hydrated and felt really soft - each lip balm is also scented (varies on different shades) so it make's your lips feel and smell divine. I guess that's why they are called Kiss Balms.

I picked up Shade 06 Blackberry which is subtle plum purple colour, its enough to wear every day without feeling overdressed with your make-up and Shade 01 Apricot which is a soft coral colour, this shade actually looks brighter in the tube but when worn it is a beautiful subtle coral that just lightens your lips. Both shades are scented exactly as the name and the finish on these lip balms are soft and creamy without leaving your lips with an over glossed look.

As these were purchased in Spain I picked these up for €4.10 each which converted to around £3.29 which is super amazing, you can get these on the UK website here which are a little more expensive than being purchased in the EU but still very reasonable at less than £6 a pop.

I absolutely love KIKO and I am a newly converted fan, I am so chuffed that I was introduced to their products. Any ladies who live in London, you are very lucky as I am told there are around 3 stores - I am sorry if I am wrong and I will definitely be trying to get the whole collection and I will certainly be trying a range of their products.

Have you tried KIKO Kiss Balms? Are there any KIKO products that you would recommend?

*NB: This is not a sponsored post and I have not been financially rewarded by KIKO to feature this product. This product was purchased by myself however the product was on offer at the time due to a store discount offer.

So bit of a while since I have updated you on my wedding plans but I finally have things in progress so I thought I would update you on my current progress. I have created a little wedding corner in my living room with my Wedding Day scented Yankee Candle, my Pot of Dreams Wedding Fund, some flowers and my wedding planner so it's a focus point in my home which always puts a smile on my face.

We have finally booked our holiday to view a variety of venues as we are getting married in Southern Spain so hopefully by the time we come back in October we will have booked our venue. Even more exciting is I have finally discussed the final look for my wedding dress, I am having my wedding dress and my bridesmaid dresses designed by Gurtlamorous so I went for my consultation and we went through fabric, lace, veil, beading and train fabrics and it was rather exciting! It was also very hard to choose as there are so many different types of fabrics, and this is just the start as I have to pick the different colour swatches next time but it is all going to be worth it and it make's me so happy that me and my girls will have specially made dresses on my big day that will hopefully make them feel special too :)

Other than that there isn't really much else to tell at the moment, but I will keep you updated and expect to see a lot of DIY wedding posts as I like to think myself as a creative soul and I will be trying to make as much as I can for my wedding as I think it make's it more personal :)

Are you getting married soon? Do you have any useful tips that may help me along the way?

Well I bet you are wondering who this stranger is writing this blog post - I know I know, I have been a really and I mean really bad blogger! I know I say this everytime but I have been super busy I didn't even realise August had started.

But I finally have something to look forward to as me and my fiancé have finally booked our first holiday since buying our house two years ago. *YIPPEE* We are going to Javea which is on the South Coast of Spain as I have family out there so it will be lovely to spend time with them and stop at their beautiful home and we are also going to view and potentially book our wedding venue! Super YIPPEE! Yes you guessed it we are getting married in Spain and if all goes to plan we will be getting married next October so I have a year to plan, organise and grow up before the big day :)

One thing I want to rant about is that Maz needs to have Oxygen during any flight (for those who don't know Maz has Cystic Fibrosis so if you've read my previous posts this should make sense) however I was completely oblivious that you actually have to pay for this! - I KNOW. And it doesn't come cheap as it's £100 each way even though it is a short flight, obviously we have paid it as it is something he unable to travel without but I really thought it was disgusting that airlines charge that amount of money each way just for a disabled person to have support in flight. It's therapeutic oxygen so it's slightly purer than air oxygen and it will be administered at the level of recommendation by his nurse but I really was so shocked that it would cost us so much. Is it just me or does this seem a little unfair? Especially because it's not everyday you will have a passenger that is Oxygen dependant but hey ho we can't change it. Rant over! :)

I've also started a new workout regime which I am really enjoying (despite me aching! ahah) and it can all be done from the comfort of your own home, it is an app called FitStar and it is a personal trainer app that has real video's of your personal trainer and it includes many tips and routines that you can enjoy and he talks and motivates you throughout. With this I am also starting a whole new healthy regime as I have stopped Slimming World because I came to a stop with my weight as I think my body was getting used to it and I think this is because you can still be naughty if you count it in your syns. Don't get me wrong it is fab for weight-loss as I have lost just under a stone and kept it off but I really want to get fit and healthy so I am starting a new lifestyle journey to completely change my body and get healthy, toned and happy! Keep your eye's peeled and I will keep you posted with my progress :)

What have you been up to recently? Do you have any exciting plans for the rest of the year?
