Ultimate Beauty Icon: Kate Middleton

by - Monday, June 15, 2015

Everyone has their own preference of a beauty icon based on their individual style and personalities but for me, who would be a better beauty icon than a real life Princess?

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton rapidly became an inspirational icon for her flawless beauty, perfectly bouncy hair and overall classic style. Not to mention she really did make every young girls dream come true – being a normal girl that became a real life Princess. How magical!

According to an online poll, products used by Kate Middleton rapidly grew after being given the “Royal Approval” but I want to share with you some of Kate Mid’s “looks” and how I would re-create these using products from the House of Fraser Beauty website.
I imagine that Kate would be really savvy with her money, albeit she might splurge in high-end products, like me, she would use the same 'base' products but uses different colours i.e. eyes, lips and cheeks to create different looks. so I have popped these into a mood board below and explained how I would use each product to re-create Kate's signature look.

THE BASE PRODUCTS

In Order of Application:

Being a Princess would be really exhausting, and this Daily Energizer Face Cream would be just what our Kate needed to make sure her skin looks its best.

2) Estee Lauder Illuminating Perfecting Primer
Being a busy woman, Kate wouldn't have time to re-do her make-up so she needs to make it last. This Illuminating Perfecting Primer will give Kate that lovely fresh glow she needs whilst keeping her make-up in place all day.

3) YSL Touché Éclat Foundation
There is nothing worse than getting dull skin towards the end of the day, especially if you are in the public eye as much as Kate, so a dab of Touché Éclat Foundation will leave Kate's skin looking flawless, hydrated and finished with a beautiful glow.

4) YSL Touché Éclat Concealer
To give Kate that extra glow when out and about, a quick dab of Touché Éclat Concealer under her eyes, down the middle of her nose and on her cupids bow will highlight all those lovely features and add an extra glow.

5) Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Dark
Kate's eyebrows are always perfectly natural, they always look well groomed and tamed. A simple swipe of Benefits Gimme Brow will help keep her natural brows in shape whilst adding a natural tint.

6) Tom Ford Beauty Eye Quad in Silvered Topaz
Kate's eye make-up is minimalistic but chic, she tends to stick to neutral shades. Tom Ford's Beauty Eye Quad will have all the colours needed to create several looks including natural, smoky eye or  a dramatic look.

7) Benefit They're Real Mascara
Being a Princess would be a really hard job, especially with all the events and photos that are needed. Kate would need a mascara that would give her long natural lashes whilst lasting the day, and what better mascara to use than Benefit's They're Real Mascara.

8) Dior Show Pro Liner (Waterproof)
To create a fuller more defined eye, Kate will want an easy to use eye liner that doesn't run and lasts well when applied. Dior Show Pro Liner (Waterproof) will be the answer to Kate's eye liner problems (if she had them)

A POP OF COLOUR

Kate's looks are always natural with a gorgeous glow, but Kate will add a pop of colour to suit the desired look by adding a soft shade to her cheeks and by mirroring this shade to her lips. I have chosen a few photos below of different looks using a selection of soft colours and I have shown what products I would use to re-create this look.

This look reminds me of a simple yet chic look that I would use to go to meet the girls for lunch. Kate's overall make-up shows her signature glow, her gorgeous bouncy locks and a cracking smile. In this look, Kate sticks to a natural look by adding soft neutral shades onto her cheeks and lips. To recreate this look I would use the Nars Blush (Christopher Kane Collection) in Silent Nude across the cheek bones and a dab of a personal lipstick favourite of mine, MAC Lipstick in Honey Love.

Such a sophisticated and glamorous look which I would re-create to go to an event or even a business meeting, not too much colour but just enough to draw all eyes on Kate. To re-create this look I would use sweep Benefit CORALista Blusher along Kate's cheek bones, but only gentle to add a soft pop of colour without this being too dramatic. Kate's lips in this picture look very hydrated and quite creamy, so I would use YSL Rouge Volupt Shine Lipstick in Shade 31 which would add a lovely soft colour similar to those of her cheers and a nice creamy finish without having an over-glossy look.

Kate looks very glamorous and very girly in this photo, her make-up compliments her outfit beautifully. I would re-create this look by adding a stronger sweep of Clinique Sculptionary Cheek Contouring Palette in Rose as this will give a more defined cheek bone, any excess would be swept away to avoid a dramatic look. To compliment Kate's cheeks, I would add MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Angel to Kate's lips as this is a soft, natural looking lipstick with just the right amount of colour - you can tell this is another favourite of mine!

What did you think of Kate's looks?
Would you look to re-create these yourself?
